Figure 9.23 shows that the cut area at station 0000 is 114.3 sf
and 232.4 sf at station 0075. These amounts are averaged and
then multiplied by 75 feet, the distance between the two stations to
find that the estimated cut is 482 bcy.


Cut between station 0000 and 0075 is calculated as follows:

9–7 Perimeter and Area


Throughout the estimate, some basic information is used
repeatedly. The perimeter of a building is one such basic
dimension that must be calculated. The perimeter is the


distance around the building; it is the total length around
the building expressed in linear feet.
