etting a good night’s sleep is crucial
to our health and wellbeing. Being
well-rested has been shown to help us
concentrate, cope better with stress,
be more productive and begin our day
with a positive outlook. Yet according to research by
UK sleep charity The Sleep Council (sleepcouncil.
org.uk), over a quarter of us experience poor quality
sleep on a regular basis, and almost half of us are
kept awake at night by stress and worry. There is,
thankfully, plenty we can do to help.
In our Sleep Well Special we look at tackling
insomnia through breathwork, muscle relaxation
and visualisation techniques; we examine how
alcohol affects our sleep; Ayurvedic practitioner
Mira Manek shares her bedtime rituals to help us
prepare for sleep; and we explore how the
mindfulness of sleep and dreams can bring joy, boost
our wellbeing and help us enjoy a good night’s rest.

Do you get your eight hours every night?

According to The Sleep Council, 70 percent

of us don’t. So what can we do about it?
