leep. It’s a source of anxiety for so many of us. Am I getting
enough? Should I be going to bed earlier? How can I switch off
my busy mind when my thoughts are keeping me awake?
This issue, we address all of these questions and more in our
22 -page Sleep Well Special, packed with expert advice and
practical exercises to help you fall asleep easier and wake up feeling
properly refreshed.
I read recently that humans are the only mammal known to willingly
delay sleep. Our modern culture is in many ways geared towards exactly
this. Netflix, social media, the pressure to be ‘on call’ all the time...
Is this a good thing? We probably all agree that it’s not. As a parent, it’s made
me question the message I give to my children, because if the idea of
‘staying up late’ is always promoted as a treat (tired kids the next day is
definitely not a treat) then the flipside to this is that going to bed is a chore,
or that early to bed means they are missing out on something. That’s not to
say I never let my children stay up, but it has certainly made me conscious
of the need to balance this with the message that going to bed when you are
tired is A Really Good Thing. And that goes for me too!
I hope you find plenty of helpful tips and ideas in all of our features this
month. Do get in touch and let us know your thoughts, and if there are any
topics you’d like us to cover we’d love to hear from you. Connect with us
