Travel Book - Guilvinec to Dubrovnik 2023

(Yoanna lpmgvrra-aD) #1

On this sunny Saturday 25th of March, we started with a
breakfast at 8am at the "Antique" youth hostel, in the city center
of Pula. Then we headed towards the amphitheater of Pula
where we had a visit planned at 9am.

The amphitheater was built in 79 BC. It is incredibly high since
the three floors of its outside circle are perfectly conserved. In
the basements, we saw an exhibition about how olive oil and
wine were made during Roman times, with different machines
and amphoras that served to transport these products and
which were particularly important for the stabilization of the
ships.

We then walked along the harbor and went to the maritime
museum of Istria. The latter owns the most complete collection
of photographic documents that tell the history of the Austro-
Hungarian imperial navy, particularly the construction of the
Arsenal, of the main maritime base and of the general staff of
the navy of Pula. It also offered the most beautiful panoramic
view of Pula and its port.

After this beautiful visit, we headed towards the
market of Pula which is located on Narodni plaza.
We wandered along the fresh vegetable and fish
stalls and we enjoyed the music and the local
atmosphere of the market. For our picnic we
decided to go to the port, next to Augustus temple
(built in 14BC) and enjoy the sun and the
landscape while eating our delicious sandwiches
with Croatian tubed "pašteta" which replaced
wonderfully our beloved Breton "Pâté Hénaff".

That night, since we had some free time, we decided to
organize a frien time with a
aperitif(alcohol-free) and the preparition of the meal in the
youth hostel. we thanks the team cooking : Ylan, Marly, Lucas,
Clément and Tristan for the pasta who they have prepare.
