We started this day at the nautical high school, at 8am. The
Croatian teacher, Mariela Marković, taught us a few words in this
language and tells us about the story behind the tie ("cravate" in
French). A word which, she tells us, derives from the word
“Croate” (Croatian, in French) and which originates in the time of
Louis XIV. Indeed, the mercenaries of one of his regiments wore
around their necks a curious fabric which attracted the attention
of the Parisians, and which was gradually adopted under the
name of "cravate" (tie).
At 5 p.m., a group of Croatian
students joined us on the football
field for a friendly match, with music
and good mood, which ended a little
earlier than expected because the
balls were all thrown over the fence.
In any case, we were expected in a
small theatre, to see the revival of a
play by Molière: L'Avare, performed
by young high school students in
French and Croatian. We did not
understand everything but we were
happy to chat with them afterwards.After this very
interesting cultural
lesson we got to work
in mixed groups (2
French / 2 Croatian)
and finished our
presentations on the
different maritime
risks. Two students
from each group finally
presented their subject
orally. It was a very
productive moment of
sharing.After exchanging gifts, we headed to a typical grill restaurant
called Konoba Tabak. The food was delicious.
The evening ended smoothly, we had free time to buy souvenirs
before going to eat in a restaurant near the residence. In short, it
was a last day full of exchanges, very complete and enriching.
