Travel Book - Guilvinec to Dubrovnik 2023

(Yoanna lpmgvrra-aD) #1

Once we arrived in Italy we went directly to our campsite to put down all our
belongings and quickly took a bus to go to the very heart of the city of Venice
since we had an appointement to visit oldest gondola shipyard in the city : Squero
San Trovaso. We learnt that they use different kinds of wood and that they kept
their traditional method for building the gondolas. After that, we took the very
famous Vaporetto and walked in the streets until 7:00 pm. We strolled for 1 hour
in the city, we discovered many interesting things, in particular their passion for
glassware and for Venetian masks. In the center we found many luxury stores;
Dior, Louis Vuitton, Chanel...

After walking through the streets of Venice, we found ourselves in Saint Mark's
Square, there were many large buildings dating from 1177, it is one of the most
beautiful squares in the world. Napoleon Bonaparte considered it "the most
beautiful salon in Europe"

We ended up having dinner at a pizzeria and taking the Vaporreto back to the
entrance of the city. During this boat trip some of us spoke in english with a
seaman who worked on the Vaporetto. We learnt a lot about the boats and the
city. He told us the boat we were on weighted 35 tons and that security rules in
the city are very strict because they are scared of terrorist attacks.

We returned to our campsite around 10.00 pm and slept until 9.00 am.

The following day we had a croissant filled with chocolate or vanilla with a nice
italian coffee (or hot chocolate for some of us). Then we headed to the center of
Mestre, the city right next to Venice, where we had delicious sandwiches with
italian ham and mozzarella and finally took a Flixbus to Pula, Croatia.
