We headed towards the Jamni lake to witness our
very first sighting of the day. By then some other
gypsies had also followed and now we all had to
patiently wait as we could constantly hear the roars
and growls from behind the thick trees; And then as
we call it the Moment of Truth, out walked Tigress
Choti Tara with a lot of grace and confidence. She
went around one of the gypsies, walked up to a tree,
marked her territory and then walked away deep
into the woods.
Choti Tara was born in
the Moharli range and
later moved to the
Tadoba range. She is one
of the most frequently
sighted tigresses of TATR
and is often called the
Showstopper of Tadoba.
Just as we were
fathoming our
excitement and
happiness of witnessing a
tigress without any
fencing or cages, we
heard louder growls and
constant Monkey and
Sambar calls. Surely
seemed a lucky day as
out walked Choti Tara’s
sub adult following her
mother’s territory.
