TraWorld Magazine 3rd Edition

(Travel & Tourism Management Course - GICED1iqxRY) #1

As children, many of us have collected various objects. Pens,
pencils, erasers, feathers, shells, stones of different shapes and
colours were always the cheapest and easily available objects.
As we grew up, some of us started collecting books, postcards,
coins, stamps and much more. For some people, the hobby of
collection is a source of knowledge and for some, it is
relaxation.
Among all these collectibles, the Postage Stamps are unique in
many ways. They are attractively designed, comparatively
cheaper to collect, and the subject shown on them can be easily
understood. The subjects include important persons, different
events and achievements, as well as plants and animals,
traditions, arts, monuments, history, heritage and much more.
Since the postage stamps travel everywhere in the world with
letters and parcels, they carry the information and message
about the country’s diversity of heritage and culture as well as
its growth and progress. Sometimes postage stamps carry
message of friendly relations between two countries. To
celebrate and honour the friendly relation, very often “Joint
Issue Postage Stamps” are released by the two countries. India
has excellent cultural relations with many countries in the
world. We also share some common socio-cultural and
heritage background as well as scientific events with some
countries. By showcasing the common connecting points on the
“Joint Issue Postage Stamps”, India has always highlighted its
cross cultural relation with other countries.
So let us see some Joint Issue Stamps and the Cross Cultural
connections depicted on them.
