TraWorld Magazine 3rd Edition

(Travel & Tourism Management Course - GICED1iqxRY) #1
It was an unexpected weekend for me
and my friends, as our scheduled got
cancelled due to some reasons and we
decided to visit India’s only monolithic
basalt structure formed due to lava and
one of the three such structures of the
world, located in our very own city of
Mumbai that is in the suburbs of
Andheri. Yes, it’s indeed Gilbert Hill.
One may find it resembling the Devils
Tower in Wyoming in the United States
of America.
As mentioned earlier, this hill is formed
due to lava dating back to 65 million
years. On the top is the Gaondevi Durga
Mata Temple. It is surrounded by a lush
green outfield with small flowers. The
charm of this place is the panoramic
view which one can get of the adjoining
areas right from the Versova Beach on
the west, the Chhatrapati Shivaji
Maharaj Airport on the east and to the
northeast, one can see the hills of
Goregaon.
