A place of worship, welcome and hospitality at the heart of
Durham’s UNESCO World Heritage Site. Famous as the

Shrine of St Cuthbert and the resting place of the Venerable
Bede, it is renowned for its stunning Norman architecture.

Durham Cathedral’s medieval monastic buildings house Open Treasure, an
award-winning interactive museum for all ages which reveals the cathedral’s
incredible story and collections.
There is no set admission to enter Durham Cathedral, though visitors are
encouraged to donate to support the Cathedral’s future. Charges apply
for the tower, tours and Open Treasure. From services to family activities,
Open Treasure exhibitions to special events, there’s always something to enjoy.
This year join the celebrations for Durham’s Year of Pilgrimage, an ambitious
project to accompany the launch of six new Northern Saints Trails to
Durham Cathedral. Visit us to see breath-taking contemporary installations
such as the Museum of the Moon, experience the cathedral as pilgrims
have done since medieval times, immerse yourself in a Cathedrals at Night
event, and find out about the pilgrimage routes themselves. See what’s on
