i. Stages dan Guilding Questions
Jadual 1 menyenaraikan beberapa guiding questions dalam setiap Stage untuk membantu
seseorang guru mereka bentuk rancangan pembelajaran.

Stage 1:
Identify desire results
What are the established goal?
What “Big Ideas” do I want pupils to understand?
What “Essential Questions” will stimulate inquiry?
What knowledge and skills need to be acquired by pupils,
given the understandings and content standards?
What focus questions will guide pupils to targeted
knowledge and skills?
Stage 2:
Determine assessment
evidence
What are the evidence of understanding?
Keeping the goals in mind, what performance tasks
should be given for this unit?
Which criteria to be used to assess the pupils’ work?
Will the assessment reveal and distingush the level of
understanding of my pupils?
Stages 3:
Plan learning
experiences and
instruction
Which Instructional strategies and learning strategies are
needed to achieve the results identified in stage 1and
reflected in the assessment evidence specified in stage 2?

Dalam proses menggubal rancangan pembelajaran mengikut Backward Design, seseorang guru
dapat “plan with the end in mind”, bermula dengan tujuan diikuti dengan merancang
pentaksiran dan mengakhiri dengan menyediakan rancangan pembelajaran. Backward Design
diibaratkan sebagai "road map", di mana seseorang guru menentukan "destinasi" terlebih
dahulu, dan "road map" digunakan sebagai panduan perjalanan untuk sampai ke "destinasi"
tersebut. Berbanding dengan perancangan kurikulum tradisional, guru tidak menentukan
"destinasi" sebelum "perjalanan" bermula. Untuk modul ini, penekanan diberi kepada Stage 3
Backward Design (merancang rancangan pembelajaran) dengan menggunakan Model Instruksi
5E.
