Controlled Conditions: Emphasize the
importance of keeping all other
conditions constant except for the
variable being tested. For example, if
testing light intensity, ensure that all
other groups have consistent watering,
soil, and temperature conditions.


MATERIALS NEEDED


PLANT SEEDS (green beans), POTS/
CONTAINERS, POTTING SOIL, LIGHT SOURCES,
WATERING SYSTEM, BOX,

Recording Data: Have students
maintain observation journals
where they record daily or
weekly observations of their
plants. They should note changes in
growth, appearance, and any other
relevant data.

Analysis: After a designated
period (e.g., a few weeks), have
students analyze their data and
draw conclusions about how the
assigned environmental factor
affected plant growth. Encourage
them to use measurements and
observations to support their
conclusions.

The objective of this activity is to explore the influence
of different environmental conditions on the growth of
the same type of plant. Students will set up controlled
experiments to observe and compare how changes in
environmental factors affect plant growth.

one environmental variable to test.

plant their seeds following the
same planting instructions. This
ensures that the only variable
being tested is the assigned
environmental factor.

Group Presentation: Have each
group present their findings to the
class, discussing their experimental
setup, results, and conclusions.
