leche. Basically it is cooked
sweetened condensed milk.
There is a way to make manjar
blanco at home by cooking a can
of sweetened condensed milk,
but you should consult a good
recipe book or a Chilean friend
before attempting it because

While at the supermarket do
not pass up the varieties of

sold in plastic cups. Nestlé is
very big in Chile and all of South
America, and does a good job
of providing tasty, inexpensive
desserts. Europeans may be
more familiar with these and
other prepared foods available
in Chile. For many, they are
a welcome addition to the
refrigerator.
