a slip of paper with the number of bottles returned which
allows you to purchase the exact number of bottles without
paying an additional deposit. Keep the piece of paper as
you must give it to the cashier when checking out. In small
neighbourhood stores just return the bottles when you buy
more, no slip will be issued.
Generally, a young boy or girl will bag your groceries. He
or she may not be an employee of the store, so it is correct
to give a tip for the service, even if you did not request it.
While at the check-out, make sure that you get all your items,
as sometimes there is confusion as to which items belong
to whom.
If you want local colour not available in a supermarket,
head to the Mercado Central. Located in downtown Santiago,
