Shanghai: Waterways and Westernisation


You don’t really see Shanghai, you experience it. There
are two special things to experience in Shanghai which are
seasonal—eating hairy crabs in the autumn and watching
the entire Shanghai skyline erupt with fireworks on the first
night of Spring Festival.
Additional experiences to have include strolling the Bund,
visiting the top of the spaceship-like Shanghai TV Tower for
a panoramic view of the city, and taking long walks through
the old French Concession.
After the Olympic Games in Beijing, the World Exposition
2010 in Shanghai is probably the biggest international event
to have taken place in China. With spectacular fireworks,
vibrant cultural performances and other attractions, the
Expo delivers more than just a ‘trade fair’. Held on both
