DEFINITION
Drafting is the stage of the writing process in
which you develop a complete first version of a
piece of writing.
FUNCTION
During the drafting stage of writing, a newbie writer will develop a more
cohesive text and explore their topic, directed by purpose, audience, genre,
and content. Drafting helps newbie writers to expand upon, clarify, and
modify their initial plans and ideas, and it helps them organize their
content into a meaningful sequence or flow.
The iterative process of drafting involves drafting and redrafting text
again and again, and through this process, the writer’s writing will
improve, becoming stronger, clearer, and better organized.
