 DRYBY
DryBy ticks all the boxes: Farrow & Ball
painted woodwork, millennial pink
walls, marble countertops and copper
appliances. The concept itself was dreamt
up by Anita Pulucakai and is inspired by
speedy New York blow-dry bars. You choose
from various ‘look-book’ hair styles (starting
from £35) including a classic London look,
beach-ready Rio waves and a sleek and chic
Upper East Side blow-dry. The 15-minute
aromatherapy-filled head massage comes

highly recommended. Then, if you have
time, step downstairs to the nail bar for
a mani-pedi to complete your look.

 BULLER AND RICE
Before even entering this ecologically
focussed lifestyle hair salon based in London’s
Newington Green, you feel a sense of calm.
Overflowing foliage falls from the plant pots
lining the window, then walking in you step
over an original mosaic floor discovered
during the renovation process by founders,
stylist and colourist Anita Rice (formally of
Ralph and Rice), and partner Stephen Buller
(previously at Pimps and Pinups). Inside,
you’ll find antique barber chairs, forest green
walls, and a cast-iron staircase that breaks up
the solid wooden flooring. Due to the salon’s
focus on sustainability, you will only find
Biodynamic haircare from Italian brand
Davines. Plus, they’ve added a refilling station
to cut down on east London’s plastic waste.

LEFT Clients at Buller
and Rice enter a
salon space that is
all about calming
and relaxation,
emphasising the
natural sustainable
products they use to
achieve a great look.
RIGHT The sleek
decor at DryBy in
London’s West End
reflects the fast-paced
vibe of New York
blow-dry bars where
you choose your look
from a ‘menu’ as
you sit and socialise
with friends around
the long marble-
topped counter
