Another appearance, another label
- Gugu Mbatha-Raw is not afraid
of mixing it up. And designers are
happy to dress the 36-year-old from
Oxford, recently described as part of
the Brit-actress set “that Hollywood
cannot get enough of”. Initially
known as Kelly in TV’s Black Mirror,
it was her part in Belle (2013) that
earned her critical acclaim. Before
long, she was starring with Will
Smith in Concussion, Matthew
McConaughey in Free State Of Jones,
Reese Witherspoon in The Morning
Show, and last year, Bruce Willis and
Alec Baldwin in Motherless Brooklyn.
The movie premiered globally; in
New York she wore Miu Miu, in
Toronto it was Rodarte, in LA, Dolce
and Gabbana and in Rome, Gucci...
However, when receiving an MBE
from the Prince of Wales in 2018, she
chose polka-dot Burberry. Of course,
she’s not only been honoured by our
royalty, Oprah Winfrey phoned Gugu
after seeing her play the bi-racial
daughter of an aristo in Belle and
they’ve stayed in touch ever since.Purple
