Housed in a white barn surrounded by idyllic green pastures, Wright’s Dairy Farm & Bakery serves pastries and cakes that are a cut
above. Each recipe is made with the farm’s fresh dairy that’s produced on-site. Wright’s has been around since 1914, but the bakery
kicked off in the early 1970s when Claire Wright, the wife of farm owner Ed Wright, started crafting baked goods made with the dairy
to sell alongside the milk. Claire whipped up everything from airy cream puff s to silky chocolate cream pies and dreamy strawberry
shortcake. Known as Claire’s Classics, these rich recipes are still on high rotation in the bakery and sit in the pastry cases alongside
some newer additions to the menu, like fl aky Danish and gorgeously swirled babkas.

CROWD FAVORITE: made with fresh whipped cream, the Cow Cake (chocolate cake layered with chocolate mousse and topped
with whipped cream) is extremely popular. Tip from the locals: wash your slice of Cow Cake down with a milkshake made with the
farm’s fresh milk.

WheatFields Bakery in Lawrence, Kansas, is proof
enough as to why the Midwest is known as America’s
Breadbasket. WheatFields has been a fi xture for the
last 20 years, specializing in hearty breads that are
all made with the bakery’s starters and pre-ferments.
This gives their loaves an irresistible tang and gorgeous
crumb, and WheatFields’s Spanish wood-fi red oven
lends their bread a satisfying crunchy crust. From
stunning baguettes to their savory Kalamata Olive
Sourdough, the entire bread selection is available to
take home from the bakery, but we recommend staying
a while to taste the bread in action on one of the
bakery’s signature sandwiches.

CROWD FAVORITE: herbaceous and comforting,
the Walnut Sage Country French Bread doubles as a
delicious loaf on its own or as the base for the bakery’s
best-selling Turkey & Cranberry Relish sandwich.
