CHANNEL 7 PRESENTER AND SPORTS JOURNALIST
ABBEY WAY JOINS HOUSE RULES: HIGH STAKES
THIS YEAR AS A CO-HOST ALONGSIDE NEW HOST
AND FORMER JUDGE JAMIE DURIE. SHE CHATS TO
HB ABOUT HER JOURNEY TO HOUSE RULES

HB EXPLORES THE NEW CHALLENGES AND
FRESH FACES OF THE HIT RENO TV SHOW
Edited by KAYLA WRATTEN

HOUSE RULES:

HIGH STAKES

ON SCREEN:

What do you love about being a TV presenter?
Abbey Way: “Fresh out of high school, I received a scholarship
to study journalism and, as they say, the rest is history. My job
is so diverse, and I absolutely love it. It’s such a privilege to be
able to tell people’s stories, and it just doesn't get old. I’ve met
the most amazing people and I feel so lucky to do what I do.”
What are you most excited for about co-hosting House Rules?
“House Rules presents a whole new genre for me and it’s just so
much fun. Watching our contestants as they see their life-changing
home renovations for the first time is the biggest thrill. Working
with Jamie has been a blast, too.”
How would you describe your interiors style?
“My style is ever evolving, and the pieces I love are a bit eclectic. I flit
between loving minimalism and organised chaos, so one day, when
I have my own home to deck out, I’ll be interested to see where the
pendulum lands. Right now, the apartment we [Abbey and husband
Ben Way] rent in Sydney’s eastern suburbs is very relaxed and coastal.”
Do you have any design rules you live by?
“My rule would be, don’t follow trends and have fun. I try to choose
styles for myself, not for anyone else. Oh, and don’t be afraid of colour!”
Watch House Rules: High Stakes on Channel 7.

This year, eight new teams
on Channel 7’s popular
reno reality series will
tackle the transformation
of a 33-storey penthouse
on Queensland’s sunny
Gold Coast. The twist?
This game changer will
push competition to the
next level, as pairs need
to earn their place – only
six teams will hand over
the keys to their homes
to their competitors for
a mind-blowing makeover.
