Indiana
‘There’s more than corn in Indiana’ is a phrase you might find
hard to avoid on your travels across the country’s 38th-largest
state. The sentiment rings true immediately in the friendly city
of Indianapolis, the state’s compact and tidy capital, which is
home to the Indy 500, the NCAA’s headquarters, and the
largest number of US war memorials outside Washington, DC.
The Hoosier State is also home to several major college
campuses including the University of Notre Dame, Purdue
University and Indiana University, the last of which is in the
funky, artist-friendly city of Bloomington. Along the way you’ll
want to explore Amish communities, sand dunes, the Indiana
Wine Trail perched along the scenic Ohio River, the most
distinctive collection of modern architecture in the country
and a vast expanse of wilderness in Hoosier National Forest.
