Step One: Start by going
under the File menu and
choosing New, or press Com-
mand-N (PC: Ctrl-N). Set the
Width to 1700 px, the Height
to 850 px, and the Resolution
to 100 ppi. Also, set the Back-
ground Contents drop-down
menu to Black, and click OK
or Create.


Step Two: Once the new can-
vas is created, make a dupli-
cate of the black Background
layer by pressing Com mand-J
(PC: Ctrl-J).


Step Three: Next, create a
new blank layer above this
duplicate layer by c licking the
Create a New Layer icon at the
bottom of the Layers panel.
Click on the Foreground color
swatch near the bottom of
the Toolbar, and choose your
color (we’re using a dark
blue). Click OK once done.


Step Four: Select the Gradi-
ent tool (G) in the Toolbar,
and up in the Options Bar,
choose the Radial Gradient
type. Then, c lick on the gradi-
ent preview strip, choose the
Foreground to Transparent
preset in the Gradient Editor,
and c lick OK.
With the blank layer
active, c lick in the middle of
the canvas area, and then
drag toward the left or right
edge of the canvas. This will
give you a nice vignette effect
with the blue. The gradient
is on its own layer to make
it easier to change the color,
if needed.
