Step 11: Create a duplicate of this
smart object layer by pressing Com-
mand-J (PC: Ctrl-J). Then go to
Edit>Transform>Flip Vertical. Zoom
out of the document, and then drag
out a corner of the window so you
can see quite a bit of canvas around
the image. Using the Move tool
(V), hold down the Shift key as you
drag the duplicate smart object layer
down. Leave a gap between the two
layers about the width of the vertical
strokes. This will be the reflection on
the floor in our scene.

Step 12: Before we bring in the
main subjects and start processing
them, let’s brighten up the blue
spotlight. Double-click either smart
object layer in the Layers panel to
open it; they’re linked, so it doesn’t
matter which one you double-click.
Once opened, create a new blank
layer just above the blue gradient
layer, and switch to the Gradient
tool. We’re going to use the same
Foreground to Transparent gradi-
ent but this time set the Foreground
color to white by pressing D then X.
Drag out a gradient from the center,
making it a little smaller than the
blue gradient. Set the layer blend
mode to Overlay, which will result in
a sort of hotspot for the light source.
Close the document, save the
changes, and you’ll see the result in
both instances of the smart object.
