from this layer by pressing Shift-Com-
mand-U (PC: Shift-Ctrl-U), and then
convert it to a smart object.
Step 18: Using the Move tool,
drag-and-drop this layer into the
working background image. Press
Command-T (PC: Ctrl-T) for Free
Transform, and scale and position
the subjects relative to the back-
ground in the scene. Press Enter
when done. Remember, smart
objects are nondestructive, so you
can scale as much as needed with-
out losing quality.
Step 19: Now we need to add a blue
cast over the subjects to help blend
them into the scene. Click on the
Add Layer Style icon (ƒx) at the bot-
tom of the Layers panel, and choose
Color Overlay. Click on the color
swatch, and when the Color Picker
opens, click on a darker blue around
the edges of the hotspot in the doc-
ument. Click OK.
Back in the Color Overlay settings,
set the blend mode to Multiply, and
lower the Opacity to around 90%.
Click OK when done. Now it looks
like the subjects are picking up the
light in the scene.
