Step 12: Hold down the Option (PC:
Alt) key and drag the words “Smart
Filters” from the Man layer to the
Lion Statue layer. Holding down the
modifier key allows you to copy the
filters instead of just moving them. If
the statue looks dark, double-click
the words “Camera Raw Filter”
below the Lion Statue layer, change
the Contrast to around +20 and
Dehaze to around –20, and click OK.
Make sure the Lion Statue layer
is active, and add a Curves adjust-
ment with Image>Adjust ments>
Curves. Adjust the curve to create a
steep upward curve to darken the
highlights. Drag the top-right point
to the left, and then click along the
curve to add points. Click OK when
done. Then go to Image>Adjust-
ments>Hue/Saturation, enable the
Colorize option, and then set the
Hue to +26, Saturation to +27, and
Lightness to –25. Click OK. This
gives the statue a slight brownish
color cast to better match the color
of the primary statue.

Step 11: Click here to download our first lion statue from Adobe Stock. Double-c l ic k
the image in your Libraries panel to open it in Photoshop. Unlock the Background
layer by clicking on its lock icon in the Layers panel. This allows the Quick Actions
section in the Properties panel (Window>Properties) to provide a Select Subject but-
ton. Click that button to select the statue, and press Command-C (PC: Ctrl-C) to copy
the selected pixels. Return to the main project file and make the Background layer the
active layer. Press Command-V (PC: Ctrl-V) to paste the copied pixels into a new layer.
Convert this layer into a smart object and Free Transform the layer until the lion’s head
appears to be sitting inside the empty statue. Rename the layer “Lion Statue.”
