Sonia led an $800 million

U.S.-based Rosewood Hotels
& Resorts. She also serves as
an executive director at New
World Development and a non-
executive director of Chow Tai
Fook Jewellery Group.

Henry Cheng Kar-shun
Chairman,
New World Development
Henry, 73, chairs the family’s
flagship businesses New World
Development, New World
China Land, NWS Holdings
and Chow Tai Fook Jewellery
Group. He is also chairman of
FSE Services Group, the listed
company of Fung Seng group,
which is controlled by
William Doo Wai-hoi.

Brian Cheng Chi-ming
Executive Director,
NWS Holdings
Adrian Cheng’s brother Brian,
37, is an executive director in
the family’s NWS Holdings, the
Hong Kong-listed infrastructure
subsidiary of New World.
Before joining NWS, Brian was
a research analyst at financial
services firm CLSA.

Peter Cheng Kar-shing

Peter, 67, is the brother of Henry
Cheng. Peter’s sons Conroy Cheng
Chi-heng, 42, and Conrad Cheng
Chi-him, 40, serve respectively as
executive directors of New World

Fung Seng Enterprises
Doo, 75, is married to Amy
Cheng, the sister of Henry and
is the chairman of the Fung
Seng group, a conglomerate
with subsidiaries in property,
landscaping, insurance, security
services and waste management,
among others. It has one listed
company, FSE Services Group,
which provides contractor and
environmental management
services. His son William Doo, Jr.,
46, is deputy CEO of the group.
William Sr. is non-executive vice
chairman of New World and
William Jr. is a non-executive
director of NWS Holdings.

THE FOUNDER
Cheng Yu-tung was a rags-to-
megariches story. Born in 1925, he
settled in Macau in 1940, working
in a gold shop and marrying the
daughter of his boss. Cheng grew
that shop into one of the world’s
largest jewelry retailers, the Chow
Tai Fook Jewellery Group, based
and listed in Hong Kong. Cheng
moved to Hong Kong in 1946 and
diversified the family’s businesses
in the ‘60s and ‘70s, creating
an empire that now spans real
estate, hotels, transportation,
retail, aviation, infrastructure,
insurance, healthcare, telecom
and gaming. When he died at age
91 in 2016, he had an estimated
$16.6 billion fortune.
