Washington,DCwithhonorsin1992. Upon
graduationClaudinewascommissionedasec-
ondlieutenantintheU.S.Armyandpostedto

DavidJohnWeber.Claudinewouldleavemil-
itaryservice,obtainaMaster’sDegreein

wasaworldtraveler,animatedbyboundless
curiosityandaloveofadventure.In2 004
Claudine’slifewouldbeforeverchangedby
theunconditionalloveofafeistyJackRussel
TerrierpuppynamedLily.Claudine’spassing
ismourneddeeplynotonlybyherhusband,
parents,siblings,extendedfamily,andfriends,
butbyherSpotlightcolleagueswhoadmired
herhumanity,humor,andleadership,andby
countlessindividualstouchedandencouraged
byherselflessnessandgenerosity.Thesup-
portsheandherspousegavetotwoSyrian
familiesarrivingtoGermanyin 2015 after
fleeingSyriaandcrossingEuropelargelyon
footwastypicalofhercompassionandempa-
thy.Claudineissurvivedbyherhusband;her
parents;maternalgrandmother, DorisO’Con-
norShea-Spivey;herfather’sspouse(Brenda);
brothersFredandEdwardHof;sisterBrooke
O’Gara;numerouscousinsandnephews,and
bycolleagues,friends,andadmirersfortunate
enough to have known this remarkable
woman.Claudine'sfamilywillhaveaprivate
remembranceandcelebrationofherlife.
