Zara Emotions By
Jo Loves Amalfi
Sunray EDT, £15.99
(40ml) Jo Malone,
yes, THE Jo Malone,
has launched a
collection with Zara.
My favourite, Amalfi
Sunray, is more of a
summer scent, but my
page, my rules. It’s
meant to evoke the
Italian Riviera and
nothing (apart from
The Lizzie McGuire
Movie) has made
me want to book a
plane ticket more.

Maison Margiela
Replica Springtime In A
Park EDT, £96 (100ml)
When I picture my local
park, I think of strewn
black plastic bags,
empty vodka bottles and
intimidating 14-year-olds.
However, when I smell this,
I’m transported to a green
space straight out of Mary
Poppins – spectacularly
clean, blooming with
flowers and full of happy,
fictitious children who
spontaneously burst into
song. Should come with
a picnic hamper.

Coach Dreams EDP,
£69 (90ml) Inspired by
a sunny Californian road
trip, Dreams starts off
fruitily with juicy pear
and bitter orange, but
transforms into a floral
bouquet bursting with
gardenia and cactus
flower. Far sweeter than my
own memory of driving in
America – white knuckles,
sweaty palms and several
near-death experiences. MAKE IT LAST
If your perfume’s disappeared by noon,
it might be down to the ingredients.
“Some notes take longer to evaporate
from the skin, but citrus materials
are more volatile and tend to vanish
quicker,” explains Dunckley. Fan of
fresh, summer scents? Layer them with
matching body lotions to eke them out.

STORE IT RIGHT
Stored correctly, your perfumes
should last longer than most of
your romantic relationships (no
shade intended). “Keep fragrances
somewhere dry, cool and away
from sunlight,” advises Dunckley.

SHOP LIKE A PRO
“It’s a total misconception that cheap
perfumes are bad,” says Dunckley. If
you’re on a budget, he recommends
The Body Shop for high-quality,
beautiful scents. However, if you’re
feeling boujee, he reckons you can’t
beat Chanel or Frédéric Malle.

FIND YOUR SIGNATURE
Stuck in a perfume rut? Dunckley’s
got the answer. The Perfume Society
website has a “Find A Fragrance”
service† where you type in a scent
you love and it recommends a host
of new finds for you to try.
