AS TOLD TO JENNIFER SAVIN. *NAME HAS BEEN CHANGED

She supports one of the country’s biggest bankers, but how does 25-year-old

Hannah,* PA to a CEO in London, manage her own budget?

SWITCHING
GEARS
Initially, I worked in sales at a
car dealership. After a month,
though, I told my boss I hated
it but loved the company, and
he made me his PA. Then, three
years ago, I left to become PA
to the CEO of a bank.

ORGANISATIONAL WIZARD
You have to be thick-skinned and very flexible to do this job.
Every boss I’ve had thinks I carry a magic wand... I deal with all
aspects of their life, from managing their diary to buying their
wife’s birthday present. A Filofax and strong coffee are crucial.

PARTY PEOPLE
It’s not uncommon for the
bill to reach £15,000 when
I’m partying with the work lot
(disclaimer: I don’t pay any of
this). Illicit substances are often
floating around, too. When I’m
out with the girls, I can spend
between £200 and £600 in
a high-end club.

BEST TO
WORST BUYS

£2,000 on a Chanel
tote bag. Dreamy.

£700 on a weekend away
to Burnham Market, a
village near the coast, for
myself and someone that I
nowdefinitelywish I hadn’t
invited. It was basically a
trip to Pointless-on-Sea.

HELL YES

HELL NO

As soon as
I get my bonus,
I put it into a savings
account and use it to
treat myself to holidays or
designer gear throughout
the year. I also have a
credit card as a bit of
a cushion too.

...IS MY ANNUAL SALARY
I also get a yearly bonus of
around £10,000. Banking is
definitely the industry to be
a PA in if you’re looking
to earn big.

£400
My personal trainer,
who I see twice a
week, costs £320 a
month, and my gym
membership is £80.

£250
I’m not the best saver,
but I put £250 away
each month into my
“Oh shit!” savings
fund, for emergencies
or treats.

WHERE THE MONEY GOES

£800
goes on food. I spend
a lot of time at The
Ned (a private club
in London where my
membership costs £200
a month), which has
nine restaurants in it.

£400
goes on beauty. I buy
Armani and Charlotte
Tilbury products when
I don’t get Botox.

Travel comes in at
£320 a month. £200
goes on Tubes and the
rest on Uber journeys.

£1,200
goes on rent and bills

  • it may sound high,
    but I do live alone.
