Meal

plan
While your baby is napping, take a few
minutes to go through your cupboards and
freezer, making a note of what you have (and
chucking anything past its sell-by date). Then sit
down and plan as many meals for the week as you
can with what you already have, making a list just of
the food you need to complete these meals – it’s
sure to be a lot shorter than normal! It’s easy to
get into a habit of guessing what you need and
ending up with a cupboard full of pasta or
half a dozen tins of sweetcorn, so use it
up and enjoy the extra pennies
in your purse!

Swap

to cloth
Using reusable cloth nappies can
cost less than £300 in total, compared
to £1,200 for disposables, which means a
huge cash saving – and an environmental
one too. It’s not for everyone, but even
using one or two reusables a day
will still save you cash.

Use

cashback

sites
Whether it’s for groceries or baby gear, most
of us shop online regularly. But did you know
you could be saving as you spend? Visit your
favourite online stores via cashback sites such
as quidco.com and topcashback.co.uk and
you can earn money back – often a
percentage of the total spent – which
is transferred straight into
your bank account.

Get

paid to shop
It may sound too good to be true, but
companies often use mystery shoppers to
evaluate the quality of their service. Acting like
a normal customer, your job is to use a business’s
service then fill out a questionnaire about your
experience – and get paid! You may be asked
to visit a particular restaurant, shop or hotel,
or even just make phone or online
enquiries to retailers. Visit uk.
