“chkdskc:/f /r”.
You’llbepromptedtoperform
thediskcheckthenexttimeyou
restartWindows,sopressY,then
closethewindowandrestart
yourPCtoperformthecheck.If
errorsarefoundandfixed,try
theupdateagain.

I’ve stumbled across a
reference to precision
touchpads, which appear to
support more gestures than
regulartouchpads.I havean
olderHPlaptopwitha Synaptics
touchpad,butit doesn’tshowup
asprecisionunder‘Settings>
Devices> Touchpad’.CanI still
usethisfeature?

Most Synaptics
touchpads – even
older ones – can
be made to support precision
features, with noticeably
improved responsiveness (we
tested this successfully on a HP
Pavilion G series laptop). There is
a small risk that the driver may
break, so have a USB mouse on
standby to roll it back via Device
Manager if necessary.
First, download the driver
you need from Lenovo (https://
download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/n1mgx14w.zip). Extract
the contents of the file to its
own folder.
Next, right-click the Start button
and choose Device Manager.
Expand Mice and other pointing
devices, right-click your existing
touchpad entry, and choose
Update driver. Select Browse
my computer for driver software
followed by Let me pick from a
list of available drivers on my
computer. Click Have Disk, and
browse to the folder containing
your downloaded driver. Select
Synaptics Pointing Device from
the list, and click Next followed
by Yes at the warning.
Once installed, reboot and
return to Settings > Devices >
Touchpad where you should
now find it’s been recognised as
a precision touchpad, revealing
more settings for you to customise.TOUCHPAD
