Jewelry Project RIPPLES

4a

Using medium solder, solder
your bezel wires to the bases.

4b

Pickle them, and then fi le any
remaining edges of the bases
fl ush with the bezel wires.
Sand all the way around the
bezels so the sides are smooth. If
necessary, grind away any chunks
of solder inside the bezels with a
cylinder burr.

RIPPLE RINGS
Cut two pieces of 18 gauge square
wire to 75mm each. File the ends
fl at. Form the wire into ovals so
that the ends are fl ush.

5

Solder with hard solder. Pickle
them, then fi le off any chunks
of solder.

6

With a ring mandrel and
rawhide or nylon mallet, round
out the ripple ring. Go slowly and
be gentle so you don’t distort
the square wire or mark it up too
much. Then tap it fl at on a steel
bench block, and lightly sand all
sides of it.

7

Using easy solder, solder the
bezels to the insides of the rings.
Make sure you’re using a fl at part of
your soldering block.

8

Using easy solder, solder the
earring posts to the tops of
the rings. Then pickle everything
thoroughly.
