The explosion looked fiery on PS1, but in Remake you really get
a sense of the destruction that happens from various angles.

you follow them through more streets as you flee to the train.

There’s no dialogue choice when you meet Aerith in Remake,
but this scene is greatly expanded, featuring ghostly spirits.

Circled by Shinra guards, Cloud has to cut his way through in a
sequence much longer than the original’s lone screen of combat.

A quick stroll down staircases has become a dash through
lasers. You’ll fight through waves of enemies on the way back.

There’s an explosion in the original, but
running away is basic. In Remake everything
is on fire. Escaping feels truly desperate.

In the original Jessie’s easily forgotten until you
need her to open a door. Here, Cloud rescues
her on the way to escaping in a cutscene.
