PS5 GAMES PREVIEW

Light to how the sequel will play
post-release.
The community around Dying
Light and their support has taught
the developer a lot, says Harton:
“From how to build technology
that is easy to expand with
content quickly, what kind of
content to add, how to
communicate with our players, and
what it is that makes them come
back for more Dying Light.”

TEAM EFFORT
The game’s current community
has become an integrated part of
the sequel’s development, from
planning to what ultimately will be
in Dying Light 2. “ I think it’s safe
to say Dying Light wouldn’t be
where it is currently if it wasn’t
for them,” expresses Harton as he
also says the “the support and
longevity of our player base has
surprised us.” It’s no surprise,
then, that the sequel will continue
embracing the series’ community,
and that means, we’re surmising,
post-release events and DLC. “We
want to support the world of
Dying Light 2 for as long as
possible,” confirms Harton, adding:
“We can’t wait to share more of
this world with our players.”

got something special for PS5, right?
All we know at this point is that a new
game is in the works, and (when
announced at E3 2018), that it was some
way off – which could place it in the PS5
launch window.
In many ways Skyrim introduced the
fantasy RPG to the mainstream. Its
popularity cannot be understated. Which

less samey dungeons would be great.
All we’ve seen is a glimpse of the world,
showing a coastal mountain range and
some ruins. Assuming it’s set in Tamriel,
that could mean we visit High Rock or
Hammerfell, but the likes of Black Marsh
can’t be ruled out. Wherever Bethesda
takes things, we’ll be along for the ride.

Could PS5 be the
final frontier for a
superb space RPG?

We’re more than
ready for a new
mainline Elder Scrolls.

HORIZON
ZERO DAWN 2
The world and the
All-Mother know there’s a
sequel in the works, but
Sony has yet to officially
announce the new game.
An open world like HZD’s
is made for making use of
an SSD’s streaming, and
we can’t wait to see
where Guerrilla Games
takes this series.
F1 2021
Codemasters has
committed to releasing
annual editions of its
excellent racing sim,
and what better way to
showcase the power of
PS5 than with a shiny,
photoreal version of F1
running at 60fps?
DRAGON AGE 4
It’s in development but EA
and BioWare are in no
rush to kick this fantasy
RPG sequel out of the
door. We expect it to be a
second-gen PS5 release.
MARVEL’S
AVENGERS
It’s been delayed to
within a breath of PS5’s
rumoured release date
of October, and Square
Enix has been up-front
about expanding Marvel’s
Avengers with DLC over
the next few years.
Expect this one to be a
solid cross-gen release,
perhaps with a
standalone PS5 edition
for those wishing to
double-dip.
MARVEL’S
SPIDER-MAN
The game has already
been used in demos to
showcase PS5’s swift
SSD loading and storage
so it’s not much of a leap
to consider a remastered
edition could be heading
to PS5. In a worst-case
scenario, the PS4 version
will be playable on PS5
and become an example
of how cross-gen should
be done.
DEATHLOOP
Arkane Studios’ next
game is a sci-fi shooter
with a gamified time loop
that means you’ll
repeating your past more
often than Bill Murray’s
listened to Cher. We know
the game is already very
playable on PS4, so this is
likely a cross-gen release
from Bethesda.
