story of Reds flyer Peter Thompson as told by Paul Trevillion,
foremost football cartoonist of the day who also created the

Guardian and Observer newspapers.
Below: August 1972 and Football Pictorial hails the 20-year-old
who, they believe, will spearhead a Shankly title push: “Liverpool’s

of the long-awaited Anfield revival. Their hero was a dark little
fireball called Kevin Keegan.” In his debut season he scored 22
goals as the Reds clinched a League and UEFA Cup double.
