ZOOTOPIA (P. 60)

“Tasmania’s reputation is
of a natural wonderland,
and on my first trip I was
blown away by the
staggering beauty. For
families, taking a multi-
day hike together is a
wonderful way to
reconnect. The shared
adventure and exertion,
as well as the
opportunity to chat along
the track, provide a rich
set of memories for

reflection. My favorite:
the sheer joy on my kids’
faces when they
encountered their first
wombat, one of
hundreds we’d find along
the walk.” Instagram:

HOMETOWN GLORY (P. 24)

“Ipoh didn’t have a bar
scene til three or so years
ago. So it’s exciting these
days to be able to kick
back street side. The
bartenders at Tiga are
always experimenting.
Go on a quieter night–it’s
almost like being at
home with your brothers
mixing drinks. The food
stalls next to the Ipoh
Stadium have excellent
wonton noodles and a
shaved mixed-ice dessert.
There’s also East Ocean
Seafood Restaurant in
Menglembu: creative
Cantonese dishes like
lobster stuffed with
abalone; crab with
glutinous rice; and fried
chicken with ginger.”

HUNGRY IN JAKARTA
(P. 6 8)

“I’ve lived in and traveled
to Jakarta for two
decades. I’m excited by
today’s choices in
traditional and
progressive dining. All
the chefs I met were
passionate about sharing
their creations. I learned
about sourcing from
Nusa Gastronomy’s chef
Ragil Imam Wibowo; his
innovative presentation
gave me new appreciation
for my favorite
Indonesian dishes. At
Animale, chef Andri
Dionysius’s malloredus
(Sardinian gnocchi) with
parmesan-crusted bone
marrow left me
speechless.” Instagram:

MAMA SHELTER (P. 21)

“I went on the Raising
Happy & Healthy Mamas
retreat to take some
relaxing me-time and
connect with like-minded
people. Everyone was
amazing and I still keep
in touch with most of the
moms. I felt pretty proud
about getting up on a
surfboard—although I
paid for that one later. I
have two girls: Ella, 5,
and Emma, 3, and it’s
good to know everything
is fine at home when I go
away for a week by
myself. Feeling guilty
about being away from
your kids doesn’t change
anything and just makes
you feel bad. Might as
well let the guilt go and

T+L FAMILY FUN 2020
(P. 47 )

The actress and women’s
rights activist is mom to
Leila, 10, and Aiden, 7;
their family shares their
adventures on YouTube.
“Khao Yai National Park
in Thailand is our favorite
weekend getaway. The
kids can enjoy nature and
have fun go-karting. We
loved the Maldives—one
unbelievable afternoon,
we saw hundreds of
dolphins and swam with
turtles. We hope to head
to the U.S. this year for
our annual trip to visit
family in California.
Everyone is looking
forward to camping in
Yosemite.” Instagram:
