Perfect, on sale now!

She spotted him near the dance floor,
laughing with Twyla, his co-worker.
Navigating the crowd, Willa felt her lips
twitch at the sounds of happiness around
her. Most of the town had turned out for
the wedding, and that, Willa thought, was
why she loved Butterfly Harbor so much.
Everyone was treated like family.
She stopped behind Kevin, her heart
thudding so hard she could barely hear the
music. As he glanced over his shoulder and
turned those remarkable eyes on her, ever y-
thing inside her tipped. “Hi, Willa.”
Willa barely noticed Twyla leaving;
she could only focus on Kevin. “Hi.” She
smiled. “I was wondering if you planned to
go to the Spring Into Easter Festiva l? ”

“Of course,” he said. “Wouldn’t miss it.”
“Me either.” She breathed deep. This was
her chance. “Would you maybe...want to
go together?”
“You and me?”
“Yeah.” Willa tried not to cringe. “Like
a date. I mean, no, not like a date. Or...”
Alethea was right: She had nothing to lose.
“Yes...I would like it to be a date.”
“Oh.” That breathtaking smile she’d
admired for so long lit up his entire face.
A smile, Willa realized, that was meant just
for her. “I’d like that too.”
“Yeah?” Her heart lifted.
“Yeah. I’m glad you asked because I’ve
been trying to find a way...” He glanced at
the food truck and laughed. “I don’t think
I can eat anymore.” His smile widened.
“Well, great.” She began to back away.
“I guess I’ll call you then and we can figure
out...” she trailed off, looking down to
where he’d caught her hand, slipping his
fingers between hers. Tiny explosions of
excitement fired off inside of her.
“I have something to ask you,” he said.
Willa blinked, wondering when the sun had
gotten brighter. “Would you like to dance?”
Something inside of her broke open and
all the doubt, worry and fear fell away and
left her feeling...alive. Now it was her turn
to smile. “I’d love to.” —Anna J. Stewart

Mystery

solution

To afford a new

trampoline for his

daughter, Peter

had indeed picked

up an extra shift—

but not at the fac-

tory, as his wife

suspected. After

leaving work each

morning, he drove

to his second job at the local department

store where he dressed up like the Easter

Bunny, giving out candy and posing for

photos with children. Every afternoon Peter

drove straight home to be with his wife and

daughter—sweaty, rumpled and smelling of

chocolate and vanilla.
