honouring various gods–and also telling us a great deal about
feasting and entertainment in the Hittite world; (f) fragmentary
copies of a collection of 200 Hittite laws, which tell us much about
crime and punishment in the Hittite world, marriage provisions,
including pre-nuptial agreements, sexual taboos, farming and
business matters, and social hierarchies from the slave upwards;
(g) legendary and mythological texts, some adopted from the
pre-Hittite inhabitants of Anatolia and some from other Near
Eastern civilisations.
