here else could you find out

about a make-up robot (the

L’Oréal Perso) that fires out a

specially-formulated skincare

tincture based on a combination of your

face, fears, and the weather outside? Or

how about the Prinker S, an inkjet printer

that ditches the paper in favour of

squirting temporary tattoos straight onto

your skin? I mean, yes, there are a lot of

fairly standard, conventional gadgets at

CES, the Consumer Electronics Show,

but it’s the small fry – those cute, out-

there inventions – that paint the most

perfect picture of what’s still to come.

I should make mention here too of the

before-CES announcement that Google,

Amazon and Apple are to cuddle up together

to create an integrated smart home platform

• expect more on this in the coming months,
  as the story develops. Suffice to say, though,
  I am expecting the results to be more of a
  bloodbath than a happy union, although
  I’d much prefer the latter.
