Front or rear opening
For added security, the
main opening for some
photo backpacks is at the
rear. You therefore need to
lay the bag down on its front
and open the rear zipper for
the main compartment.
Tailor- ma de
The shoulder straps are
height- and length-adjustable.
The ventilated harness also
features an adjustable sternum
strap and a padded adjustable
waist strap. You can be sure the
backpack will stay in place, even
while traversing tricky terrain.
Organiser pocket
Many backpacks feature additional
compartments and an organiser
pocket, ideal for stowing all your
daily essentials or additional photo
gadgets and accessories, and
for keeping everything secure.
Multi-access points
As well as rear-opening
for the whole of the
main compartment,
this Tenba Axis bag
features top and side
access points, for easily
grabbing two cameras
with attached lenses.
Extra storage
Typical of many photo
backpacks, this one has loops
on the front or sides, which
you can use for fastening
add-on pouches for extra
lenses and other accessories.
Most also feature a tripod
fastening system.
All-weather cover
An all-weather cover to keep out anything
from fine dust to torrential rain is often
supplied as a separate item, or as a pull-out
cover that’s sewn into the bag and pulls
out from a hidden flap or pocket.
Laptop sleeve
You’ll often find that a photo
backpack has a dedicated
compartment or sleeve for
storing a tablet or laptop,
or both. Some are made
to accommodate 13-, 15- or
17-inch laptops, so it’s best to
check the size before you buy.
