Actor Jeff Bridges has a passion for on-set
photography with his Widelux camera. Steve
Fairclough speaks to him about his latest book

Actor and
photographer
Jeff Bridges was born
in California in 1949,
the son of actors Lloyd
and Dorothy Bridges. He
began his career as an
actor as a two-year-old
child. His first major
motion picture role was in
the 1971 movie The Last
Picture Show, for which
he received an Academy
Award nomination for
Best Supporting Actor.
Since then he has had
six more Academy Award
nominations, and won a
Best Actor Oscar for his
2009 performance as
an aging country singer
in Crazy Heart.
He has been taking
photographs on film
sets since the early 1980s.
Since shooting the movie
Starman in 1984, Bridges
has produced a
‘scrapbook’ of his on-set
images for the cast and
crew involved in each
film he has starred in.
The first book of his
photography, Pictures,
was published in 2003,
and his photographs have
been regularly exhibited
around the world.
