The cast-on edge will form

two sides of your square,

so you must cast on twice

the number of stitches than

required for just one side.

You will be decreasing in the

middle of every alternate row.

This will result in your cast-on

edge forming a neat point that

will eventually transform into

the corner of your square. For

this pattern you will decrease

your stitches by completing

a “sl 2, k1, p2sso”. This

instruction asks you to slip your

next two stitches knitwise,

knit one stitch and pass the

slipped stitches over it.
