Hair loss is a natural part of life, and it’s
actually normal to lose up to 100 hairs
a day. But what if you begin to shed
noticeably more than that, and it doesn’t
seem to be growing back? First of all,
“Don’t panic,” advises LaDonna Roye,
a hair restoration expert and owner of
LaDonna Roye Hair Stylist and
Hair Loss Solutions. “There are two
types of hair loss: genetic and reac-
tive,” she explains. Genetic hair loss
results in follicles gradually shrinking
and producing finer, shorter hairs with
each passing hair growth cycle. Reactive
hair loss is the most common and can be
triggered by several factors: hormonal
imbalances, stress, iron deficiencies,
hypothyroidism and hyperthyroid-
ism, vitamin B12 deficiencies, dramatic
weight loss, and age. Telogen effluvium
(excessive shedding) is temporary and
usually occurs three to six months after
the trigger, she says. The good news is
hair will grow back. It’s always prudent
to consult a dermatologist or general
practitioner who can
provide a diagnosis,
course of action,
and testing for any
internal imbalances.
While you wait for
regrowth, Roye gives
some tips on how to
mitigate the fallout.

tioner to avoid brittle hair - Eat a protein-rich diet
5 THINGS TO AVOID:
