dropped.417 Yet Duke Charles did achieve his immediate aim, for in August he
concluded an alliance with Fribourg which recognized his rights over both Geneva
and Lausanne. Bern was outraged.418 These developments were scarcely calculated
to bring a solution to the problem of Geneva any closer.
