DRESSING
ROOMS
The s/s ’20 shows are informing more
than what we wear – their imaginative set
designs are providing perfect interiors
inspiration, too. By Naomi Smart
PRADA
INSPIRING BECAUSE Dutch architecture
practice and design studio Oma/Amo’s
transformation of the Fondazione Prada
Deposito was a masterpiece of tile design.
Fashion editors couldn’t photograph the
glossy geometric patterns quickly enough.
(The gold-leaf columns were
impressive, too.)
BRING IT HOME Put in a
call to Sarah Watson, founder
of the Balineum emporium
and the fashion world’s go-to
for designer bathrooms that
feel as unique as a piece of
Valentino couture. Not only can
she size- and colour-match Prada’s
square exemplars with her handmade
tiles from Stoke-on-Trent, she can also
make bespoke designs. Try The Water
Monopoly and Kast Concrete Basins
for unexpected, sugar-hued baths
and washbasins; and be sure to use
lighting and taps in black and gold
for a touch of Bauhaus polish. The
finishing touch? Shelves lined
with some modernist-shaped
bottles, courtesy of French
parfumerie Ormaie.
INSPIRING BECAUSE
For this Park Avenue Armory
show, Stefan Beckman (Jacobs’s
long-time set designer) sourced a
mass of mismatched ivory chairs.
BRING IT HOME A great idea
for dining chairs. Rather than buy new,
scan antique markets and look online
for unique seat shapes. Or, even
better, upcycle your existing chairs
with a lick of glossy white paint.
