About This Quilt
Teri’s truck is ready to usher in
spring! What a fun seasonal quilt
to make for your home. The back-
ground is made of easy-to-piece
units that add interest to the design.
Be sure to use an accurate ¼" seam
allowance when piecing this quilt
top so all the elements fi t together
well, and handle all bias edges care-
fully to avoid distortion.

Making the Units and
Blocks
Refer to “Triangle-Squares” in Basic
Lessons. Pair pink/green fl oral A’s
and green plaid A’s to make
52 units as shown.

Sewthepatchestogetheras shown
tomakea block.Make4 blocks
total.

Assembling the Quilt
Center
Refer to the Assembly Diagram.
Sew 2 blocks together as shown to
make a row. Make 2 rows; sew rows
together.

Adding the Borders
Refer to “Borders” in Basic
Lessons. Join border 1 strips and
cut to sizes shown in Assembly
Diagram. Matching centers and
ends, sew border 1 side strips to
quilt; repeat to add top and bottom
strips.

Sew together 12 units as shown to
make side border 2. Make 2 and join
to sides of quilt. Join 14 units as
shown to make top border 2. Make 2
and join borders to quilt.

Add border 3 in the same manner as
border 1.

Appliqué
Fold quilt top in half both ways
and lightly crease the folds. Prepare
patches H–CC for fusible appliqué.

Use the creases and Appliqué
Placement Diagram as guides to
arrange the patches on the quilt
top as shown; fuse in place. Refer
to close-up detail photo. Use black
thread and a machine straight stitch
to sew close to the edges of the
patches 2 times as shown.

Quilting and Finishing
Layer and baste together the
backing, batting, and quilt top.

Refer to the quilting placement
diagram. Quilt in the ditch around
appliqué shapes. Quilt a small
meander behind the truck as shown.
Quilt arcs in the green triangles
and switchbacks in the blocks. Quilt
freeform feathers in border 1 as
shown. Quilt arcs in the pink tri-
angles and loops in border 2.

Bind the quilt.
