Narrative: The US Navy stopped and detained a Russian Volgoneft tanker bound
for the United Arab Emirates that was suspected of carrying sanctioned Iraq oil in the
Gulf of Oman. The navy team was a part of the Multi-National Maritime Interception
Force that was enforcing the oil embargo on Iraq. The United States claimed that this
was not the first Russian ship that had been illegally transporting Iraqi oil and that
they gave Russia notice that they would be boarding the ship a week in advance. The
