11th Day (Kyŏngo)
Merit subjects at the inner royal hall of the new palace offered a toast to the
king’s longevity.
14th Day (Kyeyu)
The king inspected the city wall construction project.
16th Day (Ŭlhae)
Chang Chach’ung, an envoy who had been dispatched to China to extend
congratulations on the birthday of the crown prince, returned from the
Ming capital.
17th Day (Pyŏngja)
The king was planning an upcoming visit to the [Kaesŏng] Special Capital
Magistracy, and Remonstrator Yi Chŏnggyŏn and others prostrated them-
selves on the ground outside the hammun, a royal gate reserved for the king
only, begging that he abandon the plan. However, the king refused to grant
their request. The following day, Chŏnggyŏn and others made the same
request, but they again failed to obtain the king’s permission.
The king summoned twenty- seven monks to the inner royal halls, where
they held a Dharma assembly, preaching the Maha Prajna Sutra as a sup-
plication for eliminating natural disasters.
19th Day (Muin)
The king called Yŏ Ch’ing, director of the Royal Stable Court and said to
him: “After I leave the palace, do not provide the crown prince with a horse
even if he wants to go out to enjoy himself.”
20th Day (Kimyo)
The king, accompanied by Queen Hyŏn, paid a visit to the [Kaesŏng]
Special Capital Magistracy.
