Despite the official equality of man and woman in Russia confirmed
by the Russian Constitution, the problems of inequality between man
and woman are still widespread in Russia. Women’s wages lag behind
men’s, especially in the fields of education and health where the major-
ity of women are concentrated. The situation is changing, but very
slowly, and the feminist movement is still a new phenomenon.
