(^60) Chiapa de Corzo – Tuxtla - 16km
After cycling the great distance of 16 kilometres, the city of Tuxtla
lured us in. Tuxtla had no major attractions and we had no reason to
stay there. Still, I did and spent the day wandering around the
narrow streets, observing Mexican village life.
Tuxtla – Cintalapa - 83km
A steady 25-kilometre climb led up the mountain until reaching a
downhill of the same distance. I never complained about a descent
and was more than happy when, rounding a corner, I saw the road
proceeding even further down to what seemed like a long, flat
section.
In the town of Cintalapa, we noticed the Hotel Palacio; it wasn’t much
of a palace but comfortable enough. Ernest cooked spaghetti; a dish
we devoured in record time.
